Brian Nugent is a seasoned networking and security executive, with a proven record of driving pre-revenue companies to market leadership positions. Brian brings 15 years of technology industry experience spanning executive leadership posts in sales, marketing, business development and customer service across the security, communications and networking industries. Prior to Applied Identity, he was Senior Vice President of Sales and Field Operations for Teros, the leader in Application Firewalls, which was acquired by Citrix (CTXS). Prior to that he was Senior Vice President of Sales, Support and Global Alliances at Atrica, the leader in 10G Ethernet networking for carriers. Atrica was acquired by NOKIA. Before Atrica, Mr. Nugent was Senior Vice President, Worldwide Sales, Marketing, Support & Business Development for LuxN, a leader in metro DWDM that penetrated over 50 service providers. LuxN was acquired by Sorrento Networks (SNTO). Mr. Nugent's experience also includes sales management positions at Cisco and 3Com. In addition to Applied Identity, Brian is on the Board of Directors for ThreatSTOP, a provider of real-time, automated threat protection from internet-born attacks and is also on the Board of i*trezzo, the leader in Emergency Preparedness Software for handhelds. Brian is a member of the 'Alliance of CEOs'.
Peter Solvik joined Sigma in 2002 with over 20 years of experience at leading high technology companies. Most recently he was senior vice president of Cisco Systems with worldwide responsibility for information technology, internet initiatives and productivity strategy, reporting to CEO John Chambers. He managed IT at Cisco for nearly ten years, from January 1993 to September 2002, during the company's explosive growth from under $500 million to nearly $20 billion in annual sales run rate, was CIO from 1994 to 2001, and conceived and formed Cisco's Internet Business Solutions Group. While at Cisco, Pete was named to the CIO 100 4 times by CIO Magazine, and was chosen as one of "the 25 most powerful executives in Networking" by Network World. He has been quoted in articles on IT and eBusiness in Fortune, the Wall Street Journal, Business Week, the Economist, the New York Times, Information Week, CIO Magazine and many other publications and books, and has been keynote speaker at over 50 industry conferences on information technology and eBusiness. He received a B.S. in Business Administration with a concentration in Information Systems from the University of Illinois at Urbana-Champaign, where he was recently appointed to the Board of Overseers of The College of Business. Pete is responsible for Sigma's investments in Digital Fuel Technologies, Encover, and Topio.
Partner Lucinda Stewart brings 15 years of operations and investment experience in emerging growth companies to OVP. Lucinda was part of the start-up team of a Welsch, Carson, Anderson & Stowe-backed services company, National Surgery Centers (NSC), where she worked in market and business development for five years analyzing markets for new center development, acquiring existing operations and working with individual centers to improve operational performance. During her tenure at NSC, the company became the largest independent owner and operator of surgery centers, went public and subsequently sold to HealthSouth for $590 million. After NSC, Lucinda joined the investment banking division at Donaldson, Lufkin & Jenrette in New York where she worked closely with software and services companies. Since entering the venture business in 1999 (initially with Frazier Healthcare), Lucinda has focused on different segments within infrastructure software, including security, wireless, and media infrastructure. Lucinda holds a BA of Political Science from University of Puget Sound and a MM from Kellogg School of Northwestern University.
John De Santis has more than 25 years of sales, marketing and general management experience in top management positions in the telecommunications and information technologies fields, including President and CEO of TriCipher, Inc. Prior to joining TriCipher, De Santis was President and CEO of Sygate Technologies (an enterprise security software company) from 2000 to 2005 until its acquisition by Symantec. Prior to Sygate, De Santis served as Senior Vice President for Network Computing Devices, and also was Vice President, European operations for Cincinnati Bell Information Systems (now Convergys Corporation). De Santis is an alumnus of Fairfield University and completed the Stanford University Executive Institute Program for Management of High-Technology Companies.
Dennis brings the combination of over 20 years of security consulting knowledge and technology expertise critical to Applied Identity's success. Prior to Founding Applied Identity in 2002, Dennis Spent over 6 years running Cyber Business Solutions, a consulting firm where he worked as an ethical "white-hat" hacker specializing in intrusion prevention and detection, secure business and communication practices, and IT security consulting and software development. With experience in both traditional telecommunications as well as a deep knowledge of general identity enforcement within enterprise environments, Dennis brings the vision and product knowledge necessary to drive Applied Identity's product strategy and vision.. Formerly trained as a software architect, Dennis has additional IT experience from his work at Pepsico, Dicks Clothing & Sporting Goods, and Maplevale Farms, where he designed and implemented CRM sales force automation technology.
